Pastor Steven R. Meister and his family joined Southwood Baptist Church in the Summer of 2019. Pastor Steven pastored for over 14 years prior to joining Southwood Baptist Church. In May 2020, after igniting fresh energy for the Lord’s work at Southwood and supporting us through COVID quarantines, he went on to be with the Lord after a tragic accident. Pastor Steven and his family will always be near and dear to our hearts.

Pastor Steven had the vision to reach the community of Beech Grove through a refurbished bicycle ministry with the ability to make minor repairs to older bicycles. These refurbished bicycles would be given to those in the community who did not have one of their own. The ministry has been named after Pastor Steven in memory of his vision to reach our community. This vision of Pastor Steven and Southwood Baptist church allows us to show the Love of Jesus Christ by supplying a refurbished bicycle to those in need in our community of Beech Grove. If you have the desire to minister to the community by learning how to repair bicycles, this group meets in the church basement on the first Saturday of each month at 10:00 am.

Welcome to SRM Wheels of Faith, a ministry of Southwood Baptist Church!

Our mission is to provide refurbished bicycles to individuals in our community who may not have access to one. Our program, led by volunteers, takes gently used bicycles and makes them like new again.

Why Bicycles?

Bicycles can be a life-changing mode of transportation for individuals in need. They provide a way for individuals to get to work, school, or even just to run errands. At Wheels of Faith, we believe that providing individuals with a bicycle can improve their quality of life and promote independence.

Southwood Baptist Church welcomed Pastor Steven R. Meister and his family in the summer of 2019, as he brought with him over 14 years of pastoral experience. Pastor Steven was a passionate and dedicated leader, who ignited fresh energy for the Lord’s work at our church and supported us through the challenging COVID quarantines. Sadly, in May 2020, Pastor Steven went to be with the Lord after a tragic accident. He and his family will always hold a special place in our hearts.

One of Pastor Steven’s visions was to reach the community of Beech Grove through a refurbished bicycle ministry, offering minor repairs to older bicycles and giving them to those in the community who lacked their own. In memory of Pastor Steven’s vision and legacy, the ministry has been named after him, allowing us to show the love of Jesus Christ by providing refurbished bicycles to those in need in our community.

How It Works

Our ministry accepts donations of gently used bicycles and bicycle parts. Our team of volunteers then work to refurbish the bicycles to their fullest potential. Once the bikes are repaired and tuned up, they are made available to anyone in our community who needs a bicycle. We ask only that individuals who receive a bicycle pay it forward by donating their time to volunteer with Wheels of Faith or by making a small donation to the ministry.

If you have a heart to minister to the community by learning how to repair bicycles, we invite you to join our group that meets on the first Saturday of each month at 10:00 am in the church basement. This is a great opportunity to honor Pastor Steven’s memory and continue his vision of serving the community through the love of Christ.

If you are interested in supporting Wheels of Faith, we invite you to get involved. We are always looking for volunteers to help repair and refurbish bicycles. No experience is necessary, as we have experienced mechanics who can guide you through the process. We also welcome donations of gently used bicycles and bicycle parts.
